Through the Barfield Fund for Community-Engaged Independent Work and other sources, the Program for Community-Engaged Scholarship (ProCES) funds senior thesis research that employs community-based research methods. While the student's home department may serve as the primary funder for independent research, ProCES can provide additional funding support.

If you plan to conduct community-engaged senior thesis research over Winter Break, consider an application for funding to cover research-related expenses like housing, transportation, food, or participant incentives. Students may identify funding opportunities and submit applications through the Student Activities Funding Engine (SAFE).

As relevant, successful applications will describe community partner participation in the design, analysis, and/or implementation of the research project. Partner organizations should be more than a site for research, but instead inform the research process. Research should center the experiences of communities impacted by the issue(s) under examination.
