Established in 1975, the mission of the Puerto Rican Community Center, Inc. (PRCC) is to provide quality preschool and family services. The center’s programming and curriculum emphasizes education, culture, and a sense of community. PRCC is contracted by the Trenton Public School District and offers free services including 6 bilingual pre-K classrooms, connections to social services through bilingual family workers, and healthy meals for students. The school has noticed some young students engaging in emotional eating, which is the result of constant stressors and poor access to health food. How can children be taught to have a healthy relationship with food? What interventions can be done to eliminate emotional eating in preschoolers? PRCC is interested in gathering information about the effects of unhealthy eating so they can share the risks to physical and mental health with parents.
