Founded in 1985, Hyacinth AIDS Foundation is New Jersey's first and largest AIDS service organization. Its mission is to help people live with HIV, slow the epidemic, and serve as a critical voice in the public debate surrounding AIDS in New Jersey. Six regional offices provide services including: hotline counseling for prevention, care and treatment, professional and community education workshops, service referrals, individual client advocacy, legal services, and public policy advocacy. Hyacinth has launched a clinic in its Newark office and is in the process of collecting and analyzing data to continue to improve this nascent branch of the organization’s work. Students can build off of a 2017 summer research intern’s work on the correlation between clients’ accessing services and their health outcomes.
